As you conclude, humans are not organizations. But neither are they things or resources.

A recent paper from the so-called Trust Over IP Foundation (its object is in fact trustlessness) asserts:

"SSI is one of the only digital identity architectures to be specifically designed from the outset to give equivalence to identity for people, organisations and things.”

The authors clearly consider this an admirable marketing claim, but it's actually an admission that SSI is not fit for purpose irrespective of one's chosen DID method.
